As part of the younger generation, I feel as if I have the responsibility to keep my carbon footprint as low as possible. Using a plant based lubricant for my bike is a no brainer. I no longer have to chose between taking care of my bike and caring about the planet!

No more squeaking or catching

So glad I found this company in the same building where I work in Solana Beach! They gave me a sample and I immediately fixed my old jeep door – no more squeaking or catching. Then I took it home and let my roommates try it on everything they needed to fix. We all highly recommend!

No Throw Away

I’m teaching my kids that we should buy and consume less, and also keep stuff out of the landfills. After we restored our wood turning machine we used Gear Hugger to make sure that all our tools work better and last longer.

Stroller Surprise​

Turns out keeping that stroller in the garage was a good idea, when we needed it again we just used Gear Hugger to clean it up and get it back in proper working order. We saved the stroller and the cash we would’ve spent on a new one.​

Stops Squeaks

The power lifegate on our 10-year old SUV was squeaking badly. I sprayed Gear Hugger on a rag and wiped it all over the part of the strut that glides inside the outer housing and the little rubber seal that makes direct contact with the strut. Not a squeak since.

Excellent echo-friendly lubricant substitute

Truthfully, I was a bit skeptical that a true eco-friendly lubricant can match the trusted lubricant spray I have been using for years.But I have tried it on what a regular DIY person would use it for – lubricating hinges, loosening a bit stuck/rusty screws and it worked like the old spray, which is not eco-friendly and has an odor.I even tried it as protective measure, same as I do for tools which stay year-round in the shed – spray a bit of lubricant to prevent rust. It worked on the trivet I had to file away burrs exposing the iron – see pictures. A pleasure as I don’t have to worry of intoxicating someone if I spray indoors.

Where has this product been all my life?

I took it on my last adventure to Vail this summer and used it for my bike. It passed my test and will become my go to solution for any gear that needs a little love.

WFH Necessity (office chair)

Due to COVID, I am now working from home 24/7, but my expensive office chair started to squeak from me being on it all the time - that and the fact that I've put on some extra COVID pounds haha! I never thought that I would be one to buy a product like this, but honestly I was so surprised at how many more things I use it for, that I'm super grateful I stumbled across it. My office chair thanks you, Gear Hugger!

Good Stuff

I was testing mini chainsaws and one had no oil system so you need to use spray lube. I figured this would be a perfect use for this Gear Hugger. I drizzled some on it and it held up great. I think it works good for truck door hinges and the hood latch and things like that. However it claims to be eco friendly so there is a benefit in that.

No more dirt and rust.

Cleaned and removed rust from my gate and now it opens and closely smoothly!

Kid Tested

We had a fantastic experience testing Gear Hugger in Papa’s workshop with all his tools, I love that it is safer than chemicals for kids to use/be around.

We threw this in with all our gear on a recent camping trip and it worked wonders on stuck zippers, rusty tent pole joints and dirty tent stakes. And we felt great that we could use it out in nature with no worries about toxins that could harm the great outdoors!
