Giving Bikes (and the Planet) a Second Chance

Our Partnership with the San Diego Bike Collective

At Gear Hugger, we believe there’s A Better Way to care for our gear, our communities, and the planet. That belief is what sparked our growing partnership with the San Diego Bike Collective and now, we’re excited to take that partnership to the next level.

FROM PRODUCT DONATIONS TO PURPOSE DRIVEN ACTION

It all started with a simple idea. What if our plant-powered products could help extend the life of bikes destined for the landfill? The San Diego Bike Collective rescues, repairs, and donates bicycles to those in need with the help of an incredible team of volunteers. Their mission aligns perfectly with ours by keeping gear in play longer and reducing waste.

We began by providing the Collective with our non-toxic, high-performance lubricants and cleaners to use during bike refurbishing. With Gear Hugger products, even bikes that looked too far gone could be cleaned, protected, and brought back to life.

A NEW COMMUNITY SPACE A BIGGER IMPACT

But we didn’t stop there. Together, we’re now creating a brand new shared space designed to give even more bikes and people a second chance.

In this new space, bikes will be rescued, restored, and distributed to members of the community who rely on them for transportation, independence, and opportunity. It’s about more than bikes. It’s about building a more connected, sustainable San Diego.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Have an old bike sitting in the garage? Maybe it’s collecting dust or missing a few parts. That’s okay. With Gear Hugger products and the magic of the Bike Collective volunteers, it can end up looking and riding like new.

Donate your bike or learn more here: sandiegobicyclecollective.org

Together, we’re showing that there’s A Better Way to reduce waste, protect the planet, and support our communities. And trust us, this is just the beginning.
