How to Lubricant A Treadmill and Other Workout Machines

January and New Year’s resolutions are here! That means millions of people are dusting off their treadmills, ellipticals, exercise bikes, rowers, and other workout machinery, or perhaps they’re setting up some new equipment from Santa. After all, walking pads are all the rave this year.

But before using one of these machines it’s important for performance and safety to conduct some maintenance and make sure they’re ready for your 2023 goals. For treadmills, you should inspect the belt for any wear or cracks. You can also run the machine and listen to the motor to see if there’s any odd sounds or vibrations.

To lubricate the belt and keep it running smoothly, follow these steps:

  1. Unplug your treadmill (don’t just turn it off).
  2. Push your hand gently in between the belt and the treadmill’s deck.
  3. Spray Gear Hugger to the underside of the belt to eliminate squeaks and lubricate the parts so they last longer, repel dirt, and work more efficiently.
  4. Do the same steps to the other side of the belt, and then turn the treadmill on and let it run for a few minutes.

Gear Hugger is the premier plant-based lubricant that’s gentler on the environment and works even better than the leading petroleum-based lubricants. It won’t give off any gross fumes or leave behind any slimy residue—which is super important, especially in an area where you’ll be breathing heavily.

Use Gear Hugger to maintain other workout machines, too. Spray the product on exercise bike chains and pedals to reduce noise and friction that can damage your machine. Elliptical machines also need Gear Hugger to lubricate and protect the various parts including the back-wheel drive and all of the machines moving joints and angles.

Taking care of these machines will help you get the most out of them and your workouts. You’ve got this!
